An Illegal Slaughter Farm You Ask?

These are the latest rescues that the South Florida SPCA saved from a most deplorable fate.  Although South Florida is known for it's great weather and beautiful beaches, we are also known for the ugly:  we have some of the most illegal slaughter farms in the country.  The majority of them are run by immigrants from other countries.  There are sections of Miami-Dade county that are so remote and the agricultural patrols are so understaffed that they go undetected most of the time.  Thankfully these few will have another lease on life.  If you would like to donate to the South Florida SPCA horse rescue to help these and the 70 other horses in their care, please visitwww.helpthehorses.org.

A clinic to benefit the rescue horses of S FL

I cannot say that I am personally familiar with this trainer/clinician, but I am hoping that he can help the rescue horses at the South Florida SPCA.  If you cannot afford to do the clinic, please think about auditing as all of the proceeds with benefit the SFSPCA!  The flyer does not include how to prepay, or have any phone number to call if you have any questions, but I will see if I can get that information and post it at a later time.  In the meantime, you can contact the email provided to get more information.

Another feel good story

Blind kids read in Braille to rescue horses
This is the rescue that my horse Eros came from.  What a great opportunity for these children to experience the wonderful world of the horse, but through these special rescues!  If you would like to donate to the South Florida SPCA, please visit their website:  www.spca-sofla.org

The numbers are staggering...

This week alone, the South Florida SPCA Miami's horse rescue, has rescued 13 horses.  Currently, the SFSPCA has just under 80 horses in their care.  The summer months seem to spike the number of rescues, but 13 in one week alone is staggering.  As you can clearly see in the photo, this horse is in dire need of nutrition.  In South Florida, feed prices are double if not triple what the rest of the country pays for feed.  This is due to the distance that the feed must travel to get here, so because gas prices are high so are feed prices.  If you own a horse, you know how expensive it is to maintain...now multiply that by 80!  If you can find it in your heart and in your budget to allow for even a $5 donation to the SFSPCA, please do so today by contacting them at www.spca-sofla.org.
