Piet has trained under world renowned Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling of Denmark. He has also studied Classical Dressage with Brent Banderup of Denmark. He is a level II Centered Riding Instructor as well. Piet runs a center in the Netherlands that emphasizes human to horse communication. He strives to guide his students towards harmony with their horses. In Piet's view, this can only be achieved by truly knowing oneself, one's state of mind and through one's body language. It is only then that one can become aware of the unconscious process that continuously influences the horse.
Having attended one of Piet's clinics in Maine, I was truly impressed by his approach to the American version of Natural Horsemanship. Our clinicians here in the US use tools for their trade, where Piet only does things at liberty. It is an incredible experience to see the connection he has to horses and we are now really going to put him to the test with a couple of the rescue horses from the South Florida SPCA.
